The incident occurred when the express train was passing through the yard, prompting fear among passengers. A passenger captured video footage of the stone-pelting and shared it with the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Acting on the video and written complaint by the escort team, RPF and GRP officers formed a special investigation team led by Inspector Banarsi Yadav. Using evidence from the footage and local inquiries, the team traced and apprehended Arif from his home area in the Chakand Bazaar locality.
